Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched the 2025 Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition in India, adding fresh visual upgrades and new features to the popular SUV. While the special edition gets noticeable cosmetic enhancements, it remains mechanically unchanged from the standard version.
This marks the second consecutive year Toyota has released a Leader Edition of the Fortuner, following the positive response to the 2024 version. The 2025 update builds upon that success, offering a bolder, more dynamic design meant to appeal to enthusiasts seeking a sportier version of the SUV.
On the outside, the Fortuner Leader Edition features a new front grille design, revised front and rear bumper spoilers, and additional chrome accents to enhance its premium appearance. The SUV also gets gloss black alloy wheels, which complement the muscular stance and lend a more aggressive road presence.
Inside, the cabin sees subtle but stylish upgrades. The dual-tone black and maroon interior theme with matching seats and door trims adds a sporty touch, while auto-folding mirrors, illuminated scuff plates, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) boost convenience and safety. These enhancements collectively make the cabin feel more refined and modern.
Under the hood, the Fortuner Leader Edition continues to use the proven 2.8-litre 1GD-FTV turbo-diesel engine, delivering 201 bhp and 500 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. However, this variant is offered only with a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) configuration, skipping the 4×4 drivetrain available in other trims.
Speaking at the launch, Varinder Wadhwa, Vice President – Sales, Service, and Used Car Business at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said the new edition reflects Toyota’s ongoing commitment to evolving with customer preferences. “We are delighted to introduce the 2025 Fortuner Leader Edition — a sportier, more dynamic SUV that reinforces Fortuner’s benchmark position in the premium SUV segment,” he stated.
