Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday met the family of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sandeep Kumar Lather, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances near Ladhot village in Rohtak district. The Chief Minister expressed deep condolences and assured the family that justice would be served and a fair investigation would be carried out into the incident.
According to police reports, ASI Sandeep Kumar, who was posted with the Rohtak Cyber Cell, was found dead at a field house near Ladhot-Dhamar road. Initial findings suggest that he died by suicide. Before his death, he allegedly left behind a four-page note and a short video message in which he mentioned the names of certain officers and individuals.
The family initially refused to allow the post-mortem examination, demanding that a First Information Report (FIR) be registered based on the details mentioned in his note. After the FIR was lodged, the post-mortem was conducted at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak.
Chief Minister Saini, who personally visited the bereaved family, assured them that the state government stood firmly with them during this difficult time. He promised that the reasons leading to the ASI’s death would be thoroughly investigated and those responsible would face strict action.
The incident has sparked widespread discussion across the state, particularly as it comes days after the reported death of a senior police officer, which has raised concerns over internal pressures and systemic issues within the police department.
Local leaders, community groups, and khap panchayats have urged the government to ensure transparency and fairness in the probe. They also appealed for peace and restraint, emphasizing the need to restore public trust in the state’s law enforcement system.
The state government has directed senior officials to monitor the investigation closely. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister assured that the deceased officer’s family would receive all possible assistance and support from the administration.
The investigation is currently underway, and authorities have stated that every aspect surrounding the officer’s death will be examined in detail.
